COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The United States History course explores the question of what it means to be an American. The major focus of the course will be the shaping of the American Experience from
Colonization and Settlement begun in the second semester of the 10th Grade and then from Reconstruction to the present in the 11th Grade.. Through both chronological and thematic approach the course will focus on the impact of various groups, individuals and ideas have had on the nation in the contemporary American identity. Based on the mission statement of Lincoln High School and the RI Proficiency Based Graduation Requirement system, students will develop an appreciation of our American heritage while developing the historical thinking skills necessary to make social, political, economic, geographic and cultural connections.
