COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The 10th Grade World History course builds on the skills and content of the previous World History course and continues the study throughout the first semester.. Students will develop an understanding and appreciation of our global heritage through the study of the great ideas of mankind. Content areas span from the French Revolution, the Scientific Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, the Age of Imperialism, the Isms, WWI, the Great Depression, WWII to the Cold War Era. The second semester spans the study of U.S. History from the colonial period to the Civil War. This rigorous program will train students to think critically and to engage in cultural analysis. Students will read literary and informational text for comprehension and analysis. Students will develop writing skills to become proficient in the Social Studies by meeting the Common Core State Standards and to meet the requirement of the RI Grade Span Expectations and Historical Perspectives Standards.
